We have adopted many miniature pigs - both Vietnamese Potbellied Pigs and also Julianna Pigs. Featured here are the adults we rescued from a breeding mill in San Benito County. Meet Georgia, San Simeon and Lacey all Juliana, which are the smallest breed of adult pigs in the world. Micro or teacup piglets are starved piglets and gross false advertising as no piglet stays that small. We have rescued many pigs from owners who bought a "teacup piglet" under false assumptions, and in three years time when they have reached their full size, found them to be unruly. Many people give up their pigs at this stage in their lives, as they can become demanding and bossy, and tear up the house.... looking for truffles perhaps?! Pigs are primarily motivated by food, and so many owners over feed them and they grow to huge unmanageable sizes. Pigs grown in direct proportion to the amount of food they are feed. And even Juliana pigs, can grow to over 100 pounds or more. We offer these measurements of our adult full-sized pigs as a point of education to dispel the hyped up, and unjust myth of the "teacup" piglet! Each of these adults weighs upward of 60 to 100 lbs! Their bodies are very dense and they are HEAVY to try to pick up. Luckily they are not going anywhere....as they have found their forever home in our Sanctuary. Your donations help us buy them the specialty senior pig chow they need to remain healthy. And of course, Georgia would be made, if I also didn't tell you that she absolutely must have her grapes, as dessert!
